Problem
Air pollution in Colchester has reached dangerous levels that exceed government guidelines.
Insight
Children who grow up in polluted areas are 4 times more likely to develop health problems. Drivers needlessly polluting the air of Colchester by idling their engines need to realise they are depriving young people of fresh clean air and healthy futures.
The Idea
The young people of Colchester will partner with the council to hijack the city. They won’t give it back until air pollution in the city improves by 30%.
Community Support
City Hijack will get as many local companies, brands and services as possible to allow us to change their logo and make it live on their website, social media and signage.
Social
On social we will get local brands to declare themselves as #cityhijack supporters. We will provide them with a choice of key messages so they can help spread the word.
Schools
Our local teachers will join the effort and encourage kids to teach their parents. Homework will be given to the kids who can ask their parents for help.
Local radio
CITYHIJACK will seize the airwaves. Drivers on the school run will be listening to the latest and greatest tracks… overlayed with wheezing and coughing sounds and intermittent public service announcements promoting the
key messages.
When the three Air Quality Management Areas meet government guidelines the people of Colchester can have their fresh clean town back.
